Music Library Association Annual Meeting 2024 Cataloging and Metadata Committee Encoding Standards Subcommittee Business Meeting March 6, 2024, 2:00-2:55 pm Eastern Time Minutes prepared by Janice Bunker Attendance: Ethan D’Ver (chair), Janice Bunker, Hermine Vermeij, Andrea Cawelti, Morris Levy (OCLC), Kevin Kishimoto, Anna LoPrete, Damian Iseminger (Library of Congress), Laura Thompson, David Floyd, Jessica Grimmer, Jennifer Olson Excused: Jeff Lyon Opening (meeting began 2:02) Ethan, as chair, welcomed everyone and had the Subcommittee members introduce themselves. He asked that Subcommittee members keep their video and audio on and to speak freely. He asked guests to raise their virtual hands when they wanted to speak, and to turn on video and unmute when called upon. He asked everyone to abide by the MLA Code of Conduct. Membership: Three people’s terms conclude in March 2024: Linda Bagley, Reed David, and Keith Knop. Additionally, Jay Weitz concluded his tenure as OCLC representative to CMC and its subcommittees with his retirement. Rebecca pointed everyone to the MLA Code of Conduct linked in the business meeting agenda and reminded everyone of the CMC code of conduct which says that committee members can speak freely, but others need to be recognized by the chair, preferably using the Zoom raise hand feature.
MUSIC LIBRARY ASSOCIATION CATALOGING AND METADATA COMMITTEE BUSINESS MEETING Tuesday, March 9, 2023, 12:00 p.m.-1:50 p.m., CST, Virtual Introduction and announcements (Vermeij) Hermine Vermeij called the meeting to order and put the agenda in the chat. Introductions were made around the table by all the members present. Hermine put the MLA Code of Conduct in the chat as well and uploaded the agenda again for those who joined a little late. She reminded everyone that committee members can speak without recognition, but others need to be recognized by the chair, preferably by typing “???” into the chat or raise their hands. Hermine said that she will not share her screen so that she can see everyone’s faces, and she encouraged others to have their camera on during the meeting, acknowledging that it may cause bandwidth issues for some.
